In the summer of 2022, I attended Porto Design Summer School in Portugal. It was a great experience learning from designers like Andrew Howard, Miguel Almeida, Ronnie Fueglister, and Rejane dal Bello.

We began by mastering design basics—composition and layout—and then progressed to typesetting and text styles. For our big project in the second week, we were tasked with revamping short stories by Dave Eggers. I decided to focus on humor and chose to use a clown nose as a fun design element.

I ensured the clown nose served as a visual cue for the story transitions and inspired the accompanying illustrations. Injecting humor into the project, I incorporated flowing lines to highlight comedic moments and opted for glossy paper for a playful touch. The addition of transparent elements between pages brought an extra layer of intrigue to the overall design.
